⚽ What happened
The club records that a team from Canottieri Lario played on the lakeshore against caretakers and Native Americans travelling with Buffalo Bill’s circus, which was camped on the ground where the Sinigaglia would later rise. Colonel William Cody refereed the match and it ended in a draw.
The spectacle helped turn local curiosity into something more permanent. A group of enthusiasts founded Como Football Club in May 1907, giving the city a team of its own one year after that game by the water.
The next milestone took longer. Como’s first official pitch opened on Via dei Mille on 1 October 1911. The stadium, the colours and the rituals supporters now recognise all came later.

Before the European nights and the arguments over lineups, football in Como was simply a new thing worth gathering to watch. The lake was already there. The football community had to be imagined into existence.
That makes 1907 feel less like a date printed under a badge and more like the answer to a question the 1906 match left behind: could this become ours? The founders decided it could.
