What happened
Como 1907’s 2–0 defeat at Frosinone was the club’s last match before the September–October international break. Fifteen players from the current first-team squad have been called up, representing nine countries across senior and Under-21 football. FIFA’s international window runs from 21 September to 6 October.

The personal milestones matter as much as the number. Captain Lucas Da Cunha and goalkeeper Jean Butez have received their first senior France call-ups. Mattia Liberali is in Italy’s Under-21 squad for the first time, with European qualifying matches against Armenia and Poland ahead. Spain’s Under-21s have selected three Como players for their final three group qualifiers.
A call-up is not a guarantee of minutes. It does, though, give Como supporters plenty to follow while club football pauses.
The Como view
The most interesting part is not the count. It is how often Como teammates may find themselves on opposite sides of a national-team fixture.

France meet Italy on 2 October, putting Da Cunha and Butez in the same fixture as Moise Kean and Samuele Ricci. Croatia face England the following day, with Martin Baturina and Ivan Smolčić in one squad and Trevoh Chalobah in the other. Whether any of them share the pitch will depend on selection.
For Como, the wider picture is both encouraging and demanding. Senior recognition for the captain and goalkeeper says something about how far their work at the club has carried them. Meanwhile, the Spanish trio and Liberali have qualification stakes of their own. Cesc Fàbregas will have little time with the full group together before Como’s next league match, at home to Roma on 11 October.
Bottom line
Fifteen call-ups are a point of pride, not fifteen guaranteed appearances. We’ll be watching who plays, how they return and whether Como can turn a scattered international fortnight into a strong response at the Sinigaglia.
